Born in the little town of Macon Mississippi at the age of zero, I spent most of my childhood moving every two years being from a military family. My dad was an Army pilot born in the same state and mom a full blooded German whom he had met while on duty overseas. I’ve lived and traveled in half the state in this country and being half German, I’ve spent half my childhood in Germany and traveled half of the countries in Europe by the time I reached 12. By the age of 13 my parents had retired and we built a horse farm out in the country between Raleigh, Pinehurst, and Fayetteville, NC.
After high school where I majored more in sports (wrestling, football and baseball) than academics, I managed to obtain a Bachelors Degree for science from North Carolina State University in Science Education. As it often goes, I spent very little time teaching after college and mostly spent my professional career as a licensed general contractor in the Raleigh Durham area. I had a few brief years involved with the Air Force while in college but there as well, I never pursued a career. I did later complete my private pilots license on my own after the Air Force and flying has been my passion ever since.
Ocracoke is an island saturated with musical talent all year round which feeds my 2nd passion for playing guitar at all the local hangouts with friends where you can find us playing most any night OR day of the week.
I’m a single God loving father of 4 beautiful kids (and a few others who would call me “dad”) and they are the pride and joy in my life. Most are in school and well on their way to becoming who they wish to be and I couldn’t be more proud of each one of them.
The past 7 years I have worked hard to simplify my life and create an atmosphere of peace and serenity for myself, and for the people I love surrounding me. My goals here are to complete this project to the best of my abilities and allow it to serve as a means to spend time with Nancy on the island, enjoying what it offers and create a means for us to financially sustain ourselves here, but also to offer a place for my friends and family to come and enjoy as they wish as well.
